Hello, One of my clients uses google apps for business to handle their email instead of Exchange, They also use the “Google apps sync for outlook” application that syncs outlook with their google calendar. Coming from exchange they were used to having a global address book with over 6k contacts, however now the “Directory” only list the email addresses within our domain (registered with google apps for business). Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on how they overcame this scenario? Sincerely, Jonathan. Rockn wrote: THis is why I always say to NOT get Outlook involved with anything GMail related. G Suite has its own internal address book for the domain that can be accessed by anyone natively.
Why add the complexity with using Outlook whenG Suite does everything they need to do. You should guinea pig one user and see if they convert. Sadly some people are set in their ways - Outlook isn't going anywhere when it comes to this client.
I do agree that microsoft and google apps is limited and does not play well together. However this doesn't solve my problem. AllenFalcon (Cumulus Global) wrote: You have a few options.
As admin, you can add contacts to the Global Address List. Tools like give you better control and the ability to manage the GAL.
Third party tools like make this even easier The first option you mentioned. Can you share more information about it?. Am I able to import a contact list and share with all domain accounts?. Will Google Apps sync for Outlook download the contacts or is it only accessible via the web interface? Thank you for your input, I am looking into the other options mentioned now.
